Groundbreaking for SANS Project

"SANS for Nanostructured Materials" is a $9M CFI and OIT project, which will build a modern small angle neutron scattering (SANS) instrument at beam port 4 of the McMaster Nuclear Reactor.  Groundbreaking for the new instrument took place in October and construction should complete in 2018.  The SANS instrument will be the only such instrument of its kind in Canada and is expected to provide forefront and unique information on nanostructure in the range from 1 to 20 nm and in a host of materials of interest to the scientists and engineers of the Brockhouse Institute for Materials Research.
